March 9, 2005

Consultants:  Provost Liz Hitch, Sharon Radtke

The meeting was called to order by Billy Clow.  Today is an opportunity for the committee to generate ideas regarding the budget.  

               I.      Sharon Radtke provided the following handout:

a.      2005-06 Annual Budget Allocation Decision Rules

 

             II.      The approximate amount of the budget cut is 1.3 million dollars for FY2006.  Ron, Sharon, and Jennifer Wilson are in the process of putting together data on current vacancies, provisions, etc.   The mechanical deadline for the budget cuts is April 15, 2005.

            III.      Provost Hitch commented that more might be learned at the Board of Regents meeting on March 10, 2005.  It is helpful for people to provide their prospective and to focus on the outcomes on services and programs. 

 

         IV.      Ron will provide updated budget information on UW-L’s web site: http://www.uwlax.edu/budget/reductionhome.htm

 

           V.      Discussion/questions followed.

 

         VI.      Kenna Christians briefed us on the capital campaign – a capacity study is in process.

 

        VII.      Next week is spring break.  Please mark all Wednesdays for Planning Budget meetings beginning on March 23 at 1:10 pm in 325 Graff Main.
