Planning and Budget Committee

The meeting was called to order by Billy Clow, Chair.
 

               I.      Billy handed out “drafts” of the Planning and Budget minutes for review.  The minutes will be posted on the internet and linked from the Faculty Senate and Budget Reduction web pages.  Please let Billy know of any changes that should be made.

             II.      Billy distributed a handout from the Chancellor, “2005-2007 Budget Process Guiding Principles for the Process.”

            III.      Dorothy Zeisler-Vralste announced that the second NCA Self Study Forum is scheduled for the UW-L campus and community beginning at noon on Wednesday, March 30 in Room 259, Cartwright Center.  The forum will be led by Jodie Wagner and Ken Winters.

         IV.      Provost Liz Hitch explained that the cuts would be 1.2 or 1.3 million – first year of the biennium.

           V.      Ron Lostetter and Sharon Radtke distributed and reviewed the following documents:

a.      “Principles for 2005-06 Budget Reductions” from UW System

b.      “University of Wisconsin System Distribution of 2005-07 Governor’s Efficiency Measures”

c.      “2005-06 Supplement #1 Allocations” from UW System

d.      Comments/questions followed
 

         VI.      Building Projects – Governor is committed to the FY05-07 supported capital projects.  This allows us to plan for the new academic building.  The Building Commission will be meeting on April 20. 
 

        VII.      April 15 is the deadline for UW System to receive our budget cuts.  Liz and Ron appreciate the suggestions/ideas that they have been receiving from our campus regarding the cuts.   The Chancellor will have the final say in the cuts.
 

      VIII.      Billy will send out a notice to the campus to “get the word out” regarding the budget crisis.
