February 16, 2005

Members Present:  Billy Clow, Bill Colclough, Kathy Elgin, Mark Gibson, Wayne Jacobsen, Jim Jorstad, Sandi Krajewski, John Mason, Richard Mikat, Gwen Straker,  Petra Roter, Ken Winter

Consultants:  Liz Hitch,  Ron Lostetter,

Excused:  Mike Nelson, Steve Senger, Mary Torstveit

The meeting was called to order by Billy Clow.

   I.            Billy informed the committee that two new faculty positions will be added in the fall of 2005 – Communication Studies and Biology.

a.      Liz Hitch briefed the committee on these positions.

 

 II.            Ron Lostetter provided a summary of the Governor’s Budget Recommendations as compared to the request submitted by the Board of Regents for the 2005-07 biennium (handout).

a.      Each initiative was explained by Ron.

b.      Discussion/questions followed

c.      “Cuts” would have to be determined by April 2005.

III.            Liz stated that the Provosts and CBOs from all university campuses, along with System staff,  will be meeting on Friday, Feb. 18 to discuss the budget issues.  There will be a facilitator at the meeting.
